A Double Feature production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream bleeding into The Tragedy Of Macbeth. Picture a hot dreamy summer day in a pre-war Brooklyn brownstone where the players take you from room to room and obviously enjoy sharing their performance with you specifically. Both productions interact with the idea of audience engagement and immersion without direct interaction. Midsummer took place in the top three floors during golden hour, using natural light as another character as the sun sets. Macbeth continues in the basement in the dark night. A Midsummer about power and a Macbeth about love. A production about a community of players, makers, textures and smells. It was the kind of queer summer Shakespeare I’ll always be trying to recreate.
